Matthew Grigg

With a diverse career in food and beverage, Chef Matthew Grigg brings extensive proficiency to his role as executive chef at ALBA. Grigg combines his culinary skills with his passion for the restaurant industry, paying homage to the local foodways and devoting ALBA’s menu to great mixology, good times, and superior cooking.

Chef Grigg’s career in food and beverage began in Nashville, where he developed a variety of restaurant brands and concepts. The revamping of Yolo’s Restaurant, located in the prestigious Nashville neighborhood of Green Hills, stands out as one of his top accomplishments. Chef Grigg then honed his culinary skills at Johnson & Wales University in Denver. He worked at the Westin Tabor Center under Chef Jean-Luc Vogele and Marcos Coal Fire during his time in Denver.

Following culinary school, Grigg moved to the mountains of Vail, CO, where he worked at the James Beard-recognized restaurant, La Tour, at Vail Cascade Resort. Grigg has also led the culinary operations at the highly acclaimed Grande Denali Lodge, located in Alaska’s rugged Denali Park.

Chef Grigg currently resides in Napa, CA, looking to create magic at ALBA.

Taking his cue from former mentors and restaurants, Chef Grigg crafted a menu for ALBA that is both locally-sourced and internationally inspired. His experience has given him the ability to take seemingly innocuous ingredients to create memorable meals.

You can taste his culinary background in some of the more interesting signature dishes offered by Chef Grigg and ALBA. From his time in Colorado, his take on Filet Mignon is always on point and our signature ALBA burger is unforgettable. From his time in Nashville, our ahi tuna tacos are a taste sensation. In keeping with our Napa heritage, we offer a charcuterie and cheese board that pairs beautifully with local vintages.

With appetizers ranging from seemingly simple salads to pork belly crepes to a flight of ahi tuna tacos, there is something for every taste.

Our main courses are sure to please, with options ranging from our signature ALBA burger to cedar plank salmon.
